A unique way to offer physical therapy

At Firm Foundation Physical Therapy, we do things a little different.

Firm Foundation Physical Therapy is a “cash-based” physical therapy clinic. This allows my care to truly be “patient-centered” as I utilize the time we have together to focus on what is most meaningful to you. We are able to meet as frequently or infrequently as needed without fear of being limited by your insurance company.

Traditionally, PT clinics have been “insurance-based” meaning they bill your insurance company directly, and after receiving payment from the insurance company, they will bill you the remainder of the balance. This means insurance companies have a lot of control over the care you are allowed to receive as they often place limits on your benefits for the year. They also will sometimes limit the diagnosis that a patient can be seen for or the clinician/facility you can choose to use.

Since becoming a PT I have worked within the insurance system, and there were many things that bothered me about it, but really it boiled down to this: decisions about a patient’s care were often driven by insurance guidelines and reimbursement rates and not what is best for the patient. I went into PT because I believe that every person is valuable and deserving of the best care I can offer them. I want to do everything in my power to help them through whatever challenge they are facing. What I found was insurance was getting in the way far too often. So I have decided to try a different model; one that allows me to be “patient-centered” rather than “insurance-centered”.
