Support for pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond

At Firm Foundation PT, Kristie Mulder, PT, DPT, PCES provides individualized care for women dealing with:

  • Pelvic Pain

  • Leaking

  • Prolpase

  • Diastasis Recti

  • Back and Hip Pain

  • C-section recovery

  • and more!

  1. You don’t need to “just do more kegels.” Kegels don’t always fix the problem. Sometimes they make it worse. Sometimes they aren’t strengthening the right thing. The pelvic floor doesn’t function independent of the rest of the body so sometimes we need to address the core or the hips to actually fix the problem.

  2. There is so much more to strengthening your core than the “Top 5 exercises to get rid of the mom pooch”. If your deep core isn’t turning on, then all the strengthening in the world isn’t going to fix anything. PT helps you activate the right muscles and makes your exercises so much more effective!

  3. There is no one size fits all answer. Each person is created uniquely. Each person has different goals and challenges. So what you need are exercises directly tailored to what your body needs in order to reach your specific goals.

At Firm Foundation, sessions are intentionally designed to meet the needs of each individual that walks through my doors. We have time to discuss your concerns, figure out what you need to work on, and make sure you are well equipped to continue this work until your next session. This process helps you meet your goals efficiently, in a way that works with your lifestyle.

Women’s Health pt is more than just doing more kegels

It’s about personal connection, hearing your concerns, and designing exercises specifically for you.

What to expect:

  • Private, compassionate care

  • Evidence-based treatment

  • Education

  • Hands-on manual therapy

  • Guided exercise

  • Personalized plans based around your specific goals

  • Visit frequency that works for your schedule

Does this sound familiar?

You’ve been told to strengthen your core…But no one tells you how to actually start.

“Birth Prep is important” What does that actually mean? You try looking things up online, but there is so much conflicting information.

“That’s normal. You’re pregnant/You’ve had a baby” -It may be common but there are still things we can do to make it better!

There are often much more specific answers for your questions than these generic, and unhelpful answers.

Schedule today to sit down with an expert in prenatal and postpartum care.

Firm foundation physical therapy

Prenatal and Postpartum appointments providing the hands on care needed to decrease pain, while empowering patients with information and exercises to address YOUR specific goals.

Personalized appointments turn patients from another number to get through, into the valuable people they are. People with real, valid concerns who deserve time and attention.

The results are outstanding. Women walk away feeling heard and empowered. Concerns are addressed, and interventions are targeted at what the patient wants-not what the routine says we should do.

Exercises fit your daily rhythm. They fit your goals, and your lifestyle.

No spending hours at PT appointments every week. Sessions are focused on building your confidence for the few exercises that will give you the most benefit.

Schedule today to experience the difference.

Don’t just take my word for it.

Here’s what real patients are saying:

“Kristie has helped me gain back so much strength that I didn’t know I had lost after having 3 babies. She consistently chose exercises that were a good fit for me; ones that would challenge me and be doable in my own home. I loved the online platform where I could see photos, videos, and written notes about each exercise. Kristie is easy to talk to and I found her to be very reassuring and encouraging when we were working through hard exercises. I would recommend Kristie at Firm Foundation Physical Therapy to any woman seeking pelvic floor therapy!”

-Midland Mom of 3

“Kristie provides such personalized care. You can tell she’s put forth a lot of thought into how to help your situation specifically and you aren’t just another client. This helps you get the most out of each and every PT session and allows you to see improvement quicker. Highly recommend!”

-Midland Mom of 2

How it works:

First: Let’s Talk

At the start of every session we sit down to talk about where you are at. I want to hear what has worked well, what isn’t working, and what you still want to work on. I want to know where your symptoms are at and how you are doing over all.

We also take time to talk about any recent imaging or doctors appointments you’ve had. I take time to unpack what you learned there and provide any additional education to supplement explanations you already got.

Second: We review

It’s totally normal-and actually a great thing to discover new things as you are doing your exercises. Maybe there was a question that came up, a new muscle that started working, or a new tightness that you noticed. I love hearing what you’ve learned and then using that as a launching pad for our exercise progressions for the day.

We often review your exercises from the previous session, and then pretty quickly progress into more challenging exercises when needed.

Third: We progress

We won’t progress every exercise every week-I want you to get the full benefit of the exercise and to have a chance to feel successful with what you are working on, but I also want to keep you moving forward.

We spend a good amount of time on finding progressions or new exercises for you to be working on and making sure you are confident to do them at home.

And patients love it:

Kristie is truly exceptional at what she does. Kristie is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and incredibly professional. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking real relief and results!

Kristie’s approach was thorough, professional, and deeply compassionate. From the very first session, she made me feel heard and respected. She’s an excellent listener who truly takes the time to understand waht you’re feeling both physically and mentally. What really stood out was her willingness to meet me at the level of intensity I was comfortable with-she didn’t push too hard, but she also didn’t let me coast. that balance made a huge difference.

Kristie Mulder is the most thoughtful health care provider I’ve ever had. Even before I arrive, she has put thought into my cisit. At my appointment, she is prepared with a therapy plan personalized specifically for me. I have her undivided attention for a full hour. After the session, she follows up with personalized resources to help me continue work at home. Where else can you get service like that?

Real Passion. Real Results.

Hi, I’m Kristie Mulder, PT, Founder and Owner of Firm Foundation Physical Therapy.

In opening Firm Foundation PT I wanted to offer the absolute best physical therapy experience patients could find. My patients are not another number, or appointment to “get through” in a day. They are a valuable person sitting in front of me with needs and concerns that I want to be able to address.

I am the only therapist that my patients see. I never hand them over to another clinician, assistant, or technician, or have them doing exercises independently. I feel the continuity we get from working together every single time is far superior to seeing a different clinician and having to start over at every visit. I want efficient, high quality results for every single patient.

In order to do this, I had to break out of the traditional way that physical therapy clinics run. I moved away from insurance companies dictating treatment types, amounts and reimbursement. I don’t utilize any assistants or technicians so that your care is followed by a single provider for the most efficient results. And I moved away from a profit-focused care model. I’m not keeping you coming for sessions you don’t need, or selling you a package at the start to lock you into coming for a high number of sessions. You are a person who’s time and finances are valuable-not something to be taken advantage of.

So when you trust me with your PT care, know you are getting someone who cares about you. Not just your physical performance, but how that impacts your life-your ability to interact with friends and family, your mental health, your finances, and your schedule.
